EducationThe University of Texas at Austin - Bachelor of Arts, English
ExperienceAs a full-time teacher's aide, I am constantly in a learning environment, and this familiarity with the learning process makes tutoring seem like second nature. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in Biology, Spanish, and Chemistry from the University of Texas in Austin. The majority of my teaching experience is with younger children, especially pre-kindergarteners, although I enthusiastically take on students of all ages. When working with students in high school, I specialize in helping them reach higher standards in their writing, biology, and English classes, as these are areas which I am passionate about and have a wealth of related knowledge in. I am a strong proponent of positive feedback learning techniques, which involves identifying a student's inherent strengths and congratulating them for this before addressing their weaknesses. This not only boosts the student's confidence, but also speeds up the learning process. In the same way teaching full-time has made me a better tutor, I believe that the only way to become a better student is through continuous repetition. I am extremely comfortable with leading and inspiring others, as I led the marching band both in high school and university. A few things that interest me are playing the clarinet, swimming, and Shakespeare.
